PC's are better at literally everything else and also play video games and also play all the video games all the time forever (with a little tweaking like running a dos emulator), also thanks to emulation (or piracy) PC's can play every console game ever released for every console. But temper your expectation, and let the novelty of it's ideas play out as long as it can for you. Hammer helm isn't bad, and if you liked Actraiser, I highly recommend it. There's walls and gates and defensive structures but at no point (in my play) was my town under threat of siege. You can build an Inn and a Tavern, but seemingly to no effect. For example, there's a wizard tower that doesn't really serve a function other than to just allow access to the higher tier of armors. There will be a lot of moments during your play where you're be enamored with a lot of potential only for the game to not deliver in any way. It's not miserable, just really light and never feels that challenging. Often times you'll be caught up on everything, wondering if you're done or if there will be another quest for you to do that moves things forward. It's a loving novel idea.ĭownside: it's paced like frozen molasses. Right, here's the rub: You're a hero, building a village and managing the village, so you can attract villagers that will in turn have quests for you to go on. It's also a little fantasy quest game where you play a noble hero doing quests for people across the land, and collecting good will and gold as a thank you. It's a light city building sim, where you play as the mayor of a small dwarf town and have to gather resources, build building and manage little things like making sure the neighborhoods are nice and everyone has heat and running water, and a job. Still though, what the gently caress is Hammerhelm?!
